Hi, I’m Emily Wenzel with Body Mind Enrichment. I’m a Pilates instructor and a personal trainer, an herbalist and an organic gardener. I’m here at the Pilates Loft, and today we’re going to go over some exercises to get rid of thigh fat. In addition to these exercises, you want to complement your lifestyle with exercise, cardiovascular and strength training, flexibility, also proper hydration, rest and a balanced diet. We’re going to use the Pilates ring. If you don’t have a ring, that’s fine you can use a small ball or a pillow. You don’t need an apparatus but place the ring in between the ankles and you want to, when you place them you want to externally rotate the leg and you really want to feel your leg muscles connect with your body. So roll all the way down, externally rotate and then extend the legs out with that ring. If you need support with the back, place your hands in a diamond position, support the back or place a small ball or pillow there, same thing with the head. So, you’re going to lower the legs. You want to feel the inner leg more than the hips and you’re going to reach the legs out, squeeze that ring, keeping the rib cage down, the shoulders and the neck relaxed with the activation from the legs and the lower abdominals. So, do 20 repetitions where you’re squeezing and pulsing in, lengthening the legs and using the inner leg and the thigh muscles and then you’re going to bend in to like a froggy position and then extend out. The head can be lifted or it can stay down. Keep that squeeze and the connection into the ring and keep that external rotation from the hip. So do 10 to 20 repetitions of this movement and then you’re going to rotate. The ring goes on the bottom and then the top leg. Extend the legs out. The arms can be behind the head or the head down and you’re going to squeeze. The bottom leg squeezes up and the top leg squeezes down. Keep the legs lifted up, head up or down and then again 10 or 20 repetitions of this and of course make sure to switch to the other leg on top.
